Do You Realize By The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips are an American band, formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States in 1983. Currently the band consists of founding members Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitar, theremin, keyboards) and Michael Ivins (bass, keyboards), longtime member Steven Drozd (keyboards, guitar, drums, synths, vocals) and Kliph Scurlock (drums)
Although grounded in an / approach to music, The Flaming Lips are known for their lush, multi-layered arrangements, spacey lyrics and bizarre song titles. They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which typically feature animal suits, puppets, streamers, video projections and complex stage light configurations.
In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die”. In 2006, Oklahoma City named a street Flaming Lips Alley in their honor.  The group recorded several albums and EPs on an indie label in the 1980s and early 1990s. After signing to Warner Brothers, they scored a top ten hit in 1994 with She Don’t Use Jelly. Although it would be their only hit single, the band has maintained critical respect and, to a lesser extent, commercial viability with sonically majestic albums such as 1999’s The Soft Bulletin and 2002’s Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots. The Flaming Lips’ 11th studio album, At War With The Mystics, was released by Warner Brothers on the 4th of April 2006. Embryonic was released in October of 2009. Their latest album, a complete cover of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon, was released in May 2010.

Something True By Band of Annuals
Band of Annuals is an Alt-Country band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Their first album “Repondez” was released under the name “The Annuals”, but due to the success of the Annuals of “Be He Me” fame, they were forced to become “Band of Annuals”.
For nearly four years "perennial favorites from the Beehive state,"- Band of Annuals have been bringing "that devastating combo of heartbreaking alt-country earnestness and perfect pop-hook craftsmanship" to stages across America.
Band of Annuals has done its work, releasing The Wharehouse EP (2006), Repondez (2005) and Let Me Live (2007) with producer Scott Wiley (Ryan Adams, Elliot Smith). The latter two having been recently re-released on independent Salt Lake City label Kilby Records. Booking and promoting themselves since 2005, BOA has played hundreds of shows in over two dozen states. Including backing-up Daniel Johnston. A recent six-week, 12,000 mile tour, spanned from Seattle to New York City. Band of Annuals are now working with Invisible City Booking, starting with a full U.S. 45+ show tour in the Fall of 2008 and an upcoming EP.
The cry of a pedal-steel, vocal harmonies reminiscent of past classics, heartfelt lyrics, musical chemistry that can only come with time...sounding both familiar and new, polished and raw.

Flash-Back Fridays ( No school like the old school)

Cannonball By The Breeders
The Breeders are an American rock band, formed in 1988 by Kim Deal of Pixies and Throwing MusesTanya Donelly. After those original bands became less active, The Breeders became more important to both artists. A tape was sent of their original demos to Ivo Watts-Russell, who immediately signed the band to his 4AD label in 1989. Their debut album, “Pod”, was recorded by Steve Albini and released on 4AD in 1990. Deal’s influence is obvious, but bassist Josephine Wiggs and Slint drummer Britt Walford (credited here as Shannon Doughton) add to the ensemble sound.

By the release of the four-song EP “Safari” in 1992, Deal was done with Pixies and had enlisted her twin sister Kelley Deal to play guitar for the Breeders. Donelly exited the band to form Belly, and drummer Jim MacPherson joined in time for “Last Splash” in 1993. The album spawned the hit “Cannonball.”

In 1995, Kelley Deal was involved in a drug bust, so sister Kim formed the side project The Amps with MacPherson, bassist Luis Lerma (member of Dayton, Ohio band The Tasties) and guitarist Nate Farley, who later joined Guided by Voices. The Amps released the album “Pacer” in October of 1995. Following drug rehab, Kelley started the Kelley Deal 6000 and also formed the unlikely Last Hard Men with Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, ex-Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, and Jimmy Flemion of The Frog

For Today By Jessica Lea Mayfeild
Jessica Lea Mayfield (b. August 27, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter, from Kent, Ohio. She is known for writing dark, sad songs, with a plaintive minimalist style that draws on both country and rock music.

A featured vocalist on The Black Keys’ Attack and Release, that band’s Dan Auerbach returned the favor by producing her first studio album, recorded over the course of two years in his home studio.

Delving into country, folk and soul, With Blasphemy, So Heartfelt is a collaborative project on which Mayfield’s sultry voice adds flair to edgy lyrics and melodies. With the help of her brother, bassist David Mayfield, Jessica Lea Mayfield’s debut includes cameo appearances by Dr. Dog’s Scott McMicken and Frank McElroy on backing vocals.

On the Low By  Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions
Hope Sandoval (born 1966) is an American singer-songwriter who was lead singer for Mazzy Star and later Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions.
Hope formed The Warm Inventions with Colm Ó Cíosóig (formerly My Bloody Valentine) and they released their first album called “Bavarian Fruit Bread”, in 2001. This album sounds, again, little different in terms of theme, voice, and instrumentation than that of her work with Mazzy Star. However, with a larger band behind her, and more time under her creative belt, Hope’s voice has matured on these songs.

Subsequently, The Warm Inventions released three EP’s but received very little commercial success, no video on MTV, and very little radio play. Nonetheless, the band’s efforts were appreciated by her solid fan base. In 2009, the band released the album “Through The Devil Softly.”

It's a Hit By Rilo Kiley
Jenny Lewis (vocals, guitar), Blake Sennett (vocals, guitar), Pierre de Reeder (bass, keyboards) and Jason Boesel (drums).
Lewis and Sennett are former child actors and were introduced to each other by Tara Subkoff, a mutual friend, in 1993. In 2001, original drummer Dave Rock left the band and was replaced by Boesel.
They began their career on Barsuk Records, releasing Take Offs and Landings in 2001. They moved to Omaha-based indie label Saddle Creek for their second album, 2002’s The Execution of All Things. But come time for their third release, More Adventurous in 2004, the band left Saddle Creek for Brute/Beaute, a Warner Bros. imprint.
On the syndicated radio show Loveline in August 2005, Sennett explained that he had a dream in which he was being chased by a sports almanac: "when it got me, I leafed through it...and I came upon an Australian-rules football player from the 19th century named Rilo Kiley. It's kind of embarrassing." When asked by co-host Drew Pinsky if he had ever seen this name in reality, Sennett said, "I don't think so, I don't think that character exists...If you Google 'Rilo Kiley' you just come back with a lot of pictures of us." On how this imaginary name became the name for the band: "I wrote it down on a blotter, an office desk when I woke up, and, I don't know, I came back to it when we were trying to think of a name and we thought we'd use that for one show then change it, 'cause who'd want that name? Who can remember that anyway?"
In 2005, Sennett told Planet Sound Teletext Magazine that the name came from a Scottish athlete. On a 2005 episode of the MSNBC entertainment show MSNBC Entertainment Hot List, the female host stated that the name came from "old Scottish sports almanacs". In the interview segment that followed, Sennett stated, "We just looked in there and the name of one of the star players from the turn of the century was Rilo Kiley."
In an interview published in Q magazine in September 2007, Sennett offered this explanation: "Rilo Kiley is named after a character he'd met in a dream who had predicted the date of Jenny Lewis' death."
The group is also known for its charitable contributions, particularly to the Elliott Smith Memorial Fund, in honor of the late singer and friend of the band. Sennett and Lewis participated in a memorial concert for the singer shortly after his death in 2003. Sennett and Lewis also contributed to the 2005 UNICEF benefit song, "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?".
The band's fourth album Under the Blacklight was released August 20, 2007 in the United Kingdom and the following day in the United States.[3] Its first single is "The Moneymaker". For the video, the band cast "real-life porn stars", who Lewis says were told they were auditioning for "soft core porn". The second single is "Silver Lining".
On September 6, 2007, the band began a North American tour in support of Under the Blacklight. On this tour, it was joined by Orenda Fink (of Azure Ray) and Kristin Gundred (of Grand Ole Party).
In April 2009 Blender named Portions for Foxes number 376 in their list of 500 greatest Songs Since You Were Born.

Shelter by Ray LaMontagne
Folk currently living in Wilton, Maine. After hearing a Stephen Stills song, Treetop Flyer, he decided to quit his job and pursue a career in music. He has since released three records, Trouble, Till The Sun Turns Black, and Gossip in the Grain. A soft-spoken person who is known for his raspy voice, LaMontagne has won a number of awards for his music and has performed at several charity events. On October 14, 2008, LaMontagne released his third studio album, Gossip in the Grain
Early life: Ray LaMontagne was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1974 to a constantly travelling mother. When LaMontagne was a child, his mother left his musician father, while his father was on tour, and moved him and his siblings up North. His father had no contact with LaMontagne and for years had no knowledge of his whereabouts. Because of the stories told to LaMontagne about his father, LaMontagne refrained from most musical activity, instead spending much of his time reading fantasy novels in the forest.  His mother moved him and his five siblings to wherever she could find work, so it was difficult for LaMontagne to become friends with other children. LaMontagne attended high school at Morgan High School in Morgan, Utah, but frequently ditched class, wrote stories, or got into fights with other students. This caused him to get poor grades and LaMontagne barely graduated.  After graduation, LaMontagne moved away from his family to Lewiston, Maine in order to find a full-time job.
LaMontagne found a job at a shoe factory in Lewiston where he worked 65 hours a week. One morning at 4 a.m., LaMontagne heard Stephen Stills’ song “Treetop Flyer” on the radio as it awoke him for an early work shift. After purchasing the Stills Alone album, LaMontagne decided that he wanted to quit his job at the shoe factory and start a career as a singer-songwriter.  LaMontagne began touring in 1999, although he maintained a side job as a carpenter.  In the summer of 1999, LaMontagne amassed 10 songs for a demo that he sent to various local music venues. The owner of a local theater heard the demo and invited LaMontagne to open for folk acts such as John Gorka and Jonathan Edwards. A business executive heard LaMontagne’s recordings and introduced him to Jamie Ceretta of Chrysalis Music Publishing. CMP recorded his first album, and sold it to RCA Records in the US and Echo Records in the UK.
Ray LaMontagne performing at the Sasquatch Music Festival.   In a period of two weeks, LaMontagne re-recorded Trouble at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, California with producer Ethan Johns. RCA Records released the album on September 14, 2004. The album featured performances by Nickel Creek violinist Sara Watkins on two tracks, and Stephen Stills’s daughter Jennifer Stills on another.  In the US, the album reached a low peak of #189 on the Billboard 200, but sold over 250,000 copies. Trouble has sold over 400,000 copies worldwide.
During a tour to promote the album, LaMontagne played six songs for an episode of Austin City Limits, which first aired on October 29, 2005.  On the third week of finals in the fifth season of American Idol, eventual winner Taylor Hicks performed “Trouble”. Chris Sligh, an American Idol Season 6 Top-12 finalist, also performed the tune to rave reviews from the judges.
Till the Sun Turns Black. LaMontagne’s second album, Till the Sun Turns Black, was released August 29, 2006 in the US. Also produced by Ethan Johns, the album featured more instrumentation than Trouble, including the use of a horn section and string section on several of the songs. Singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata provided background vocals on the song “Barfly.” The album peaked at #28 on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling 28,000 copies in its first week of release.  The album also sold enough copies to be a top three heatseeker album in New Zealand. According to his website, the first single from the album is “Three More Days”. LaMontagne performed on The Tonight Show on October 6, 2006 to promote the album.
Ray LaMontagne is particularly known for his raspy voice, which he claims to have learned by singing through his gut and not his nose.  LaMontagne claims that he is highly influenced by Stephen Stills, and critics have compared LaMontagne’s music to that of Van Morrison, Nick Drake, and Tim Buckley. LaMontagne refers to himself as a “very private person”, and infrequently gives interviews. He also usually does not interact with the audience between songs during his live shows. LaMontagne has been known to perform live shows in the dark in order to separate himself from the audience.

White Headphones By The Mother Hips
Formed nearly 15 years ago at Chico State in Northern California, The Mother Hips have seen it all, and there are already two documentaries about them-Stories We Could Tell and This Is The Sound-to prove it. They’ve gone from dorm band to buzz band to cult favorite; they’ve taken a truckload of drugs and then kicked their habits; they’ve played with everyone from Wilco to Johnny Cash; they’ve worked with countless labels (including two albums on Rick Rubin’s American Recordings); and they’ve dealt with more industry bullshit than the average band could handle. And when singer/guitarist Greg Loiacono told his bandmates he wanted to take a break following the release of 2001’s critically acclaimed Green Hills Of The Earth, it seemed as though the Hips were on their way to getting thrown into the coulda-woulda-shoulda pile.

But with the release of the band’s new seven-inch and EP on New York City upstart Camera Records, it’s clear that The Mother Hips (Bluhm, Loiacono, drummer John Hofer and bassist Paul Hoaglin) aren’t just back-they’re back with a purpose.

 Just Stay In By Annuals
Annuals is a six-piece indie-pop outfit from Raleigh and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band was started by Adam Baker in 2003 as a side project of the still active sister band Sunfold, formerly known as Sedona and headed up by lead guitarist Kenny Florence.
Ace Fu Records signed Annuals in the fall of 2005 and then released their debut LP Be He Me on October 17, 2006. The members of Annuals are also all deeply involved in their own music-business venture, Terpsikhore Records, which is owned by benefactor J.K. Horne. Terpsikhore released Annuals' first demo, titled "Lay Down Dry", in the summer of 2005, as well as the Git' Got EP in the summer of 2006.
Annuals appeared as the #25 entry in Pitchfork Media's "Infinite Mixtape" series with their song "Brother", and have also made appearances on Spin.com, AOLMusicIndie.com, Stereogum, I Guess I'm Floating, the Underrated, Brooklyn Vegan, and EarFarm (among others) - earning them a newfound reputation for being a "blog band." They are frequently compared to the Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, and Broken Social Scene and are known for their intense live shows.
They made their national television debut on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and recently came back in October 2008 for a second show, playing Confessor, the opening track from their most recent album, Such Fun.
The January 24, 2007 episode of Veronica Mars ("Show Me the Monkey") used a large portion of the song "Fair".
Annuals' second album, Such Fun, was released on October 7, 2008 .

Plasticities By Andrew Bird
Andrew Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American musician. He was born in Lake Bluff, Illinois and resides in the Chicago area. Bird is a , a and, since 2004, a . He is also an accomplished whistler.
His early work, which echoed gypsy jazz and traditional folk, has led into his current sound, which mixes rock with more broad compositions. His years of solo song-craft have now enabled him to produce a sound that is uniquely his own.
Trained by the Suzuki method from a young age and a graduate of Illinois’ Northwestern University, Bird released his first solo album, Music of Hair, in 1996. Vastly different from his later releases, this first album showcases his violin skills and pays tribute to his fascination with both American and European traditions, as well as and .
His initial commercial exposure was in collaborative work with the band Squirrel Nut Zippers. He was quickly lumped in with the craze that swept the United States music industry in the mid ’90s; this is an affiliation that he is still working to shed.
Taking on the role of band leader in 1997 with Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire, he released the album Thrills. This was followed by Oh! The Grandeur in 1998. Both albums were heavily influenced by traditional , and , with Bird relying on the violin as his primary musical instrument.

Volcano by Damian Rice
Irish singer-songwriter. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, to George and Maureen Rice and was raised in Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. In March 1999 Damien moved to Tuscany, then travelled around Europe, busking the streets. He arrived back in Dublin a year later, with a clear head and full of ideas. Damien started playing and recording music with his first band, Juniper. After a few years he decided creatively it was not for him so he left the band (Newly named Bell X1) to start a solo career.
He approached his music with a new found freshness and decided to put some songs down on record. His grandmother told him he had a distant cousin in London in the music business. Borrowing money from those that would lend it, he recorded his demo and sent it off to his cousin, renowned producer and film composer, David Arnold (Bjork, James Bond). Arnold liked what he heard and provided enough money for Damien to buy his own mobile studio.
Damien Rice formerly sang with Lisa Hannigan and released his debut solo album, O, in Ireland in early 2002. In July 2002 O was released in the UK and it received widespread critical acclaim. In June 2003 O was released in the USA and Europe, with Rice appearing on The Letterman Show and receiving more acclaim from publications such as Rolling Stone, Newsweek and The Boston Globe. Arnold joined him on stage in New York to perform a version of the Björk/Arnold track Play Dead.

Painting By Chagall By The Weepies
The two musicians, who were both active in separate singer-songwriter careers, met in 2001 at a show Tannen was playing at Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They quickly found a deep musical bond and began playing together. In 2005, they were signed to Nettwerk Records  Talan and Tannen are married and reside together in Topanga, California. Talan gave birth to a baby boy, Theo Samuel Tannen, on October 7, 2007.
Other supporting members who have recorded and toured with The Weepies include Meghan Toohey on keyboards and electric guitar.
In 2006, The Weepies big label debut Say I Am You came out on Nettwerk Records. After an initial hard-scrabble tour in their compact car as a duo, Deb Talan & Steve Tannen’s music appeared in more than a dozen TV shows, as well as several major motion pictures.
Their iTunes sales topped the folk charts in eight countries. Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol nominated them for a Short List Music Prize, and Mandy Moore asked them to write with her and sing on her album. They were invited to open for the Indigo Girls and invited onto the Hotel Café Tour; they played the Oxegen Festival in Ireland, the Hurricane Festival in Germany, and T in the Park in Scotland. Their MySpace player hit 2 million plays.   When The Weepies returned home in 2007, they were exhausted.
“2006 was amazing. Coming off the road in 2007 should have been this blissed-out time with so much to celebrate, but it was totally depressing. Our rented shack in the California hills was cold, it had a leaky roof and there were mice living in it. Our electric guitar had been destroyed on the last plane flight of the year. We hadn’t seen most of our close friends in months.”
“We were empty,” says Talan. “We both felt dark after being in the bright lights for a year. We were looking to reconnect with what moved us about music in the first place. We needed to hide out and write.”

3 Dimes Down By The Drive-By Truckers
Drive-By Truckers are an band which formed in Athens, Georgia, United States in 1996. Currently, the band consists of Patterson Hood (vocals, guitar), Mike Cooley (vocals, guitar), Shonna Tucker (bass, vocals), John Neff (guitar), Jay Gonzalez (keyboards) and Brad Morgan (drums). Cooley and Hood are the only original members of the band remaining. Perhaps the band’s best known former member, guitarist and contributing songwriter Jason Isbell left the band in 2007, shortly after his divorce from Tucker. The band’s eighth studio album, “The Big To Do” was released on March 16, 2010.
Noteworthy for their three guitars lineup, the ‘Truckers’ are often associated with the Southern rock movement of the 70s and “jam” bands but are too cerebral and irreverent to sit squarely in either genre. Their lyrics often revolve around the working class trying to survive in economically-depressed small towns of the South.
Co-founded by Patterson Hood (son of bassist David Hood of the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section) and longtime friend and musical partner Mike Cooley in Athens, Georgia, in 1996. The two men had played in various other bands including Adam’s House Cat which was chosen as a top ten Best Unsigned Band by a Musician contest in the late 1980s.
Together with a revolving group of musicians, Drive-By Truckers put out their first two albums, Gangstabilly (1998) and Pizza Deliverance (1999). Following their second release, the band embarked on a nationwide tour, resulting in a live album called Alabama Ass Whuppin’ (released in 2000 by Second Heaven Records, re-released in 2002 by Terminus Records).

Light of the Morning by Band of Skulls
The three members of Band of Skulls, Russell Marsden (guitar & vocals), Emma Richardson (bass & vocals) & Matt Hayward (drums), first met at college and quickly discovered that having two lead singers and three songwriters in a band was always going to present unlimited possibilities. With their creative process and sonic path fully intact the band quickly established themselves in the music and art community with a series of culturally inspired club nights in Southampton, London and further afield in Moscow and Tokyo.
BoSThe band, previously known as Fleeing New York, were working on new demo's in late November 2008 at Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire when their paths crossed with an international collective based in London, Montreal and LA who are now, in a very modern way, partners with the band.
Soon followed more studio time, which formed the basis of their debut album, "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey". With a working relationship sealed with a handshake the album was recorded, mixed and mastered from January through to March 09 before contracts had time to be signed.
From that point on, the progression of events from Southampton to global iTunes happened at lightning speed for Band of Skulls. Their music came to the attention of iTunes staff and made such an impact they were selected for the coveted iTunes Single of the Week campaign in April with the debut single 'I Know What I Am'. Within weeks of completing the album the band will be introduced globally to a digital audience in the USA, UK, France, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the Netherlands via this free download. The album has also been speedily brought forward to be released digitally at the same time.

Billie Holiday by Warpaint
Warpaint is a jammy, psychedelic dreamy riffage indie all-girl quartet from Los Angeles. The group consists of Jenny Lee Lindberg (vocals / bass), Emily Kokal (vocals / guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals / guitar) and Stella Mozgawa (drums).
The band weaves intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals, and driving post-punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between the soundscapes of psychedelia and intimacy.
In early 2009, their self-released debut EP “Exquisite Corpse” soared straight to #1 on legendary Los Angeles Amoeba Records’ local artists chart. By September 2009, Manimal Vinyl reissued it on CD and vinyl, complete with a new bonus track, ‘Krimson’. Mixed by John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), the EP successfully captures the band’s sonic textures and playful dynamism that they’re notorious for creating in a live setting. With a buzz already in the air, Warpaint is now beginning to stir the masses with praise in the US and abroad. Dazed and Confused calls “Exquisite Corpse” “a collection of magical psychedelia drifting over sublime moments of raw melody courtesy of the three free ethereal vocalists,” while The Independent adds, “They make a quite lovely sound with dreamy vocals, off-kilter hazy guitars.”
Onstage, Warpaint’s disarmingly authentic package can shake a room into a dance frenzy, while simultaneously holding it in a trance-like dreamworld. Playing to many captivated audiences, Warpaint has opened for Yeasayer, Black Heart Procession, and The Slits to name a few.

Flash-Back Friday (No school like the old school)

Hey by the Pixies
Pixies is an American band which formed in Boston, Massachusetts, United States in 1986 . They consist of Charles (Black Francis) Thompson IV (vocals, guitar; also known as ‘’Frank Black’‘), Kim Deal (bass, vocals), Joey Santiago (guitar) and David Lovering (drums). The band officially split in 1993 and reunited in 2004. They went on hiatus in 2007, with each band member pursuing projects of their own, only to reunite in 2009, with the announcement of a new tour commencing in Europe that summer.
Although quite popular on alternative rock radio in the United States due to heavy airplay of the singles “Monkey Gone to Heaven” and “Here Comes Your Man”, they were never widely popular there, but found success in Europe, especially in the UK where they managed three top 40 singles (“Velouria”, “Planet of Sound” and a re-release of “Debaser”).
In 1993, during an interview with BBC Radio 5, Black Francis announced that the band had split - something he had not told his bandmates. After the interview, he called Santiago, who in turn faxed Deal and Lovering the news the next morning. After the split, Black Francis inverted his stage name to Frank Black and embarked on a successful solo career, while Deal resumed her role in The Breeders with her identical twin sister Kelley. In 2004, the band reunited for a tour - documented in the film loudQUIETloud - and released a new single, “Bam Thwok” that summer. In 2007, Black Francis (now going by that name again) stated in an interview that the reunion was “done” even though the members remain in good terms with each other.

A King At Night by Bonnie Prince Billy
Will Oldham (born 24 December 1970, Louisville, Kentucky) is an American , actor, and musician. His music is often (perhaps inappropriately) placed under the genre of “”. Oldham has recorded under many names, including Palace, Palace Music, Palace Brothers, and Bonnie Billy. He often plays and records with other musicians, including Dave Pajo and his brothers Ned and Paul Oldham, but is generally the chief creator of the music. He has also been involved in musical projects and bands such as Amalgamated Sons of Rest, The Anomoanon, The Boxhead Ensemble, Tortoise, and The Sundowners as well as releasing his first solo album in 1993. Oldham has said that the Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy moniker has many references. These include ‘Bonnie’ Prince Charlie, an 18th century Jacobite; Billy the Kid, the 19th century American outlaw also known as William Bonney; and the American singer Nat King Cole. He has also appeared in several films, such as the 1987 film Matewan and most recently in Old Joy (released in late 2006). He is also the photographer of the cover image of the Slint album Spiderland.

Daft Punk is Playing at My House by LCD Soundsystem
LCD Soundsystem is the musical side project of producer James Murphy, co-founder of New York City label DFA Records. Formed in 2002, the music of LCD Soundsystem can also be described as a mix of and , along with elements of and other styles.
During live performances, Murphy is accompanied by Al Doyle (guitar, percussion — also of Hot Chip),Tyler Pope (!!! / Out Hud) (bass), Nancy Whang (keyboards) and Pat Mahoney (drums) Previous members include Phil Mossman (guitar, percussion) and Phil Skarich (bass) .
LCD Soundsystem gained attention with its first single, “Losing My Edge”. The song, which sounds like the boastings of a music geek put to an electronic beat, received acclaim in 2002. Murphy released a double album simply titled LCD Soundsystem in February of 2005 to critical acclaim. The first disk of the album contains new music and the second contains re-releases of songs previously released as singles.
In March 2007, the band released their second album entitled Sound Of Silver. The album has spawned four singles including “North American Scum”, “All My Friends”, “Someone Great” and “Time To Get Away”. Sound Of Silver saw a move towards a more traditional song writing approach whilst still maintaining the production values of their eponymous debut effort.

Statued by Adem
Adem is the solo project of Fridge bassist, London-based Adem Ilhan. Adem specialises in downbeat acoustic songwriting, utilising his knowledge of from his time in seminal band Fridge to give his -ish songs interesting and unexpected idiosyncrasies.

Adem admits to never having sung before 2002, though when his debut album Homesongs was released in 2004 (by Domino Recording Co.) it received widespread critical acclaim as much for his voice as for the tales he tells and his way with melody.

A second album, Love And Other Planets, was released on April 24, 2006 to generally favorable reviews.    Official site: www.adem.tv
